Our Second Day of Vacation!

After spending the night Thursday with my sister Lyndi (Thank You, Lyndi) we awoke on Friday and headed out to find brunch. We ended up at Bob Evans across the river in Kentucky. We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch and then from there headed to the birthplace and childhood home of William Howard Taft the 27th President of the U.S. Taft was the only man to have ever held both the office of President and the office of Chief Justice of the US. We spent time watching a very informative film about Taft and then enjoyed touring his home. For those of you that live around the Cincinnati area or if you are just visiting the area it is definitely worth visiting.

I can't remember the year but it is an old Chickering piano.

After leaving Taft's home we headed to my Mom's to spend the night. After we got to Mom's we took my Mom out for supper. We ate at Bob Evan's again as that is the main restaurant in the small town where she lives unless you want Mexican or Chinese. We had had Mexican on Thursday at a really good Mexican Restaurant in Kentucky and none of us are to keen on Chinese so opted for Bob Evan's again versus fast food.

The First Day of Our Vacation

We left this morning (August 30, 2007) and headed for the Creation Museum in Kentucky. Below are a few pictures from our time at the Museum. We really enjoyed our visit and I especially enjoyed the planetarium. The vastness of the universe is truly amazing and to think that our God who created such a vast universe knows the number of stars and their names.

We have finally arrived!

Quote from Briana

Yesterday I sent Briana to put some towels in the washer and it wasn't too long before one of the boys came out saying, "Mom, she's putting them in the dryer." Briana followed behind them saying, "No I didn't, I put them in the wetter not the dryer!"

On a Bug Safari

These three kids have spent a good portion of their day hunting for bugs, vacuuming them up with their bug vacuum, and then putting them in their bowl with a magnifying glass for a lid or in the small hut.

Down Memory Lane

Jeff headed to Halstead, KS last Saturday for his 20th High School Reunion. This is a picture he took as he was coming into Halstead. In the distance one can see the Halstead water tower.

The house Jeff lived in until he was five years old. Jeff rode his tricycle down the front steps resulting in some large bumps and bruises.

Busy, Busy, Busy

We have been really busy since my last post. This last weekend Jeff flew to Kansas to attend his 20th high school reunion. He left on Friday afternoon and returned around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday so it was a quick trip for him. He spent Friday night with his sister and brother-in-law and then spent the day in Halstead, Kansas with friends from high school days.

While he was gone the kids and I went to Wilbur Wright's Birthplace in Millville, IN. It was a really neat and informative place. We got a late start that day so didn't have lots of time there so plan to go back another time but we really enjoyed the time we spent there. The lady that runs the place was so very informative and helpful. When we first arrived she spent some time giving the kids a history lesson about the Wright family and then after we finished our tour of the place she spent time showing the kids different toys in their gift shop. The kids thorougly enjoyed themselves. Here is another link that says what I was trying to say but in an oh so much better way.

I don't have any pictures yet because Jeff had taken the digital camera with him so I had to resurrect my old film camera. I had a partial roll of film in my camera and then had two more rolls of film in a drawer. I only hope that the film is still good. I don't really know how old it was or if it was expired. My camera had been sitting so long without use that the batteries were dead and I had to go and purchase new ones. So when I get my pictures developed or put on CD I will post some pictures of the place.

Then we kept busy this week with school, laundry, cooking, etc. Last week we started out our new school year slowly without doing all our subjects and then added more this week. So it has been busier than last week. Next week we will hopefully be up to a full load and continue that for the year.

Until next time...

Our First Day of School for the 2007-2008 School Year

A picture of the kids including Julissa sitting nearby. She was drawing on a paper with crayons. She said she was writing a "D." But in reality, she was just scribbling.

Another Trip to the Dentist

I spent yesterday afternoon in the dentist office having a small filling done and having a crown made and put on. I was there for a little over two hours and walked out with a permanent crown in place. The dentist has the latest technology for crowns and is now able to prep your tooth, make your crown and put it on all in one visit. No more temporary crowns while waiting for the permanent one. This definitely makes life easier.

Our church is having VBS this week and we had intended to go last night but didn't get out of the dentist office in time to make it.
