Visitors on the Front Lawn

Today as we were sitting at the dining room table working on schoolwork, we happened to look at the window and see two mallard ducks walking across the front lawn. By the time I got my camera and got out the door, they had crossed the street and were in the neighbor's front lawn.

Daffodils

To an Early Daffodil
by Amy Lowell

Thou yellow trumpeter of laggard Spring!
Thou herald of rich Summer's myriad flowers!
The climbing sun with new recovered powers
Does warm thee into being, through the ring
Of rich, brown earth he woos thee, makes thee fling
Thy green shoots up, inheriting the dowers
Of bending sky and sudden, sweeping showers,
Till ripe and blossoming thou art a thing
To make all nature glad, thou art so gay;
To fill the lonely with a joy untold;
Nodding at every gust of wind to-day,
To-morrow jewelled with raindrops. Always bold
To stand erect, full in the dazzling play
Of April's sun, for thou hast caught his gold.

A Beautiful Spring Day!

The boys enjoyed playing out in the creek and the woods behind our house today. It is a beautiful 72 degrees outside.

Signs of Spring!

It looks like spring is finally on its way for which I am very thankful. I have been more anxious for spring this year than I ever remember being before. It was also wonderful switching our clocks ahead because it provides more daylight in the evening. Yeah!

I am not sure what happened to Anne Shirley. She must have been left indoors today.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We had a few new things on the menu for tonight's meal. I wasn't sure how my children would like it. Amazingly enough, they all seemed to enjoy it for the most part.

Corned Beef, Red Potatoes, and Carrots

Irish Soda Bread

This was interesting. I didn't mind it with my meal, but Jeff said he would rather just have plain bread and butter.

Key Lime Pie
(Thank you, Brenda)

I really like this pie! But my girls were not too sure about it. I am not surprised that Briana didn't care for it because she doesn't like dishes where one of the main ingredients is cool whip. On the other hand, Julissa usually loves those kind of things. But tonight after one or two bites, she said, "I think I hate this." My husband found it amusing. He said one generally says, "I think I like this," but he doesn't think he has ever heard anyone say, "I think I hate this."

Julissa Singing "Satisfied"

A week ago Sunday evening, the male trio from ACA sang the song "Satisfied" during the evening church service. Out of all the songs that were sung or played that evening this one seemed to have caught the interest of my children. Upon arriving home, the kids managed to find a CD with the song on it. I could not tell you how many times, I have heard that song played this past week.

By request, the guys sang the song again last evening. So I am sure I am destined for at least another week of this song. In fact just this morning, I found Julissa sitting on the desk singing along with the CD. Below is a video clip of her.
