Martin Luther King Bridge

The Eads Bridge

One of the supports of the Eads Bridge.

The Eads Bridge was built in 1874. It was the first bridge to span the Mississippi River in St. Louis. There were 18 men that gave their lives in the building of this bridge.

The Lighting Company

The lighting company in St. Louis along the Mississippi River that provided the first night-time lighting for the World's Fair in 1904. It was also at this fair that Iced Tea and the Ice Cream Cone were first introduced and the hot dog and the hamburger were popularized. If you wish to read more about this World's Fair click here.

This helicopter launching pad was down by the Mississippi River near the Arch. We got to see several helicopters while we were there.

Fishing with Bro. Perry

The highlight of Sam's day - fishing with Bro. Perry. It was the first thing he told to his dad that evening.

These kids were not exactly fishing but they managed to catch themselves a snapping turtle.

At this time the kids had the option of playing kickball or doing a craft. My youngest three kids, my sister and her girls, and I went inside to do the craft. While the other kids played kickball. I didn't get any pictures of the kickball game as I was inside and didn't think about taking pictures of the game until it was too late.

More Pictures from Kid's Camp

The kids swatting "flies." This was game to represent the plague of the flies. They were actually swatting bubbles. There was one team member trying to blow bubbles as fast as she could while the others were swatting and counting to see how many "flies" they hit. The team with the highest number of hits was the winner.

My Sister

My sister, who was somehow roped into being a team leader for Kid's Camp. So I didn't get to spend much time visiting with her as she was kept extremely busy.
