Things still continue to remain stable in regards to the brain bleed. The doctors do plan to start him back on his blood thinners on Monday if things continue to remain stable.
The intravenous feeding of TPN is causing problems with his liver and pancreas. It is also the cause of his fungal infection. He has been unable to pass the swallow evaluation. So he was taken into surgery this afternoon and had a PEG tube (feeding tube) placed in through the abdominal wall to the stomach. This will allow him to be fed nutrition (such as Ensure) through the stomach. It will also get him to using his gut again.
Things pretty much remain the same in regards to his speech ability. If anything, it may be a little worse today, but the doctors really expect to see waxing and waning in this for awhile.
