Happy Birthday, Briana!

Six years ago today our first girl entered this world. Where has time gone? Today we pause to celebrate with her. She along with her oldest brother set the dining room table with my winter china, tablecloth, and napkins. I forgot to get a picture until after the kids were at the table putting food on their plates, but if you use your imagination you can envision what it looked like before anyone sat down.

Again, I attempted to make a cake. As you can see I am definitely out of practice. I attempted to make a Pastel Four Layer Cake. I didn't use their icing recipe, but used my mom's instead. It has been so long since I had made it that I ended up with too thin of a consistency. It does not look near as pretty as the original picture looked. But it tasted good and I believe Briana was happy.

Samuel's Thoughts

After reading this book, "Meet the North American Indians" Samuel said, "I guess Briana is a Creek Indian because the Creek Indians fought others for no reason." I think this thought came about due to the injury Sam received the other night from Briana for no apparent reason.

I took this picture today after we got home from church. The girls have on matching dresses and I imagine this will be one of the last times they will wear them. A bittersweet moment.

Yesterday afternoon Briana and Julissa were sitting in the Office chair looking at a small photo album together. They both love to look at photos.

It's Story Time!

Briana has put dolls and stuffed animals on the couch in order that she might read them a story. Then she wanted me to take a picture of them. So I thought I would share it with you all.

It is a beautiful 63 degrees outside today. Spring is in the air. The kids are out playing in the mud and dirt down by the creek.

My two youngest spent quite a bit of time today at the piano just playing and singing their own made up little songs. They were having a great time.

Briana in her new robe and pajamas. I found this robe at Kohls yesterday for around $5.50. It was too good of a deal to pass up. Briana was absolutely thrilled with it and her new pajamas.

Lincoln Log Fort

Alex and Briana have spent most of the day building and playing with this Lincoln Log Fort. They have been thoroughly enjoying themselves. Curtis and Samuel have also played with them when they took an unathorized break from schoolwork.

I Think She Meant "Calculator"

Briana's advice to older brother who was having a little difficulty doing a math problem was,

"You just need to do it on the "calendar" like I am doing!"

Alex is determined to learn to read even if Mom doesn't have a lot of time to spend with him. Here he is working at it again. Briana feels like she must be doing something that is school for her.
